Schools and Youth Groups
Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services of Whatcom County (DVSAS) offers engaging and interactive educational programs for Whatcom County schools and youth audiences.
All presentations are free of charge and are facilitated by trained speakers. Most presentations are 45-60 minutes long and may include a short video. The length and content of student-focused presentations can be adapted to fit the specific needs of most classrooms.

The Empowerment Project is a unique and interactive 3-day program focusing on the realities of sexual assault and dating violence. The goal of The Empowerment Project is to give students an in-depth understanding of these issues and help them to understand how to replace harassment and violence with healthy relationships and effective communication skills. On the final day of the workshop, students will have a chance to hear from a variety of people who have been affected by these issues during the Survivors and Allies Panel Presentation.
Past participants have found this program to be very compelling and effective, helping them to thoroughly understand the issues through activities, lecture, and class discussion.
Safe Halls: Sexual Harassment Education for Students
We offer hour-long sexual harassment presentations for middle school students in Whatcom County schools. Educating students about sexual harassment and bullying can improve the environment of the school and help reduce the incidence of sexual harassment. Presentations help students recognize sexual harassment, increase awareness about the effects of victimization and encourage students to confront harassers when appropriate. Sexual harassment presentations are most suited for students grade 6-8, but can be adapted for high school audiences as well.
If you would like to schedule a presentation or have questions about the curriculum, please call the Education Coordinator at (360)671-5714.
