How to Volunteer

Our next volunteer training session runs February 20-March 9.

As a community-based, volunteer-supported agency, Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services of Whatcom County (DVSAS) offers a unique variety of volunteer and internship opportunities. Our volunteer are caring, compassionate, dedicated people interested in working with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Volunteer advocates work in a variety of settings and provide crisis intervention, safety planning, legal advocacy and emotional support both in-person and over the phone. Most volunteers take about four shifts a month, depending on their schedule. Shifts are available both day and night and may involve answering the hotline at our downtown office, responding to pager calls from home, or working off-site in the criminal justice system. We appreciate our dedicated volunteers and will find a way to work around your schedule.

If would like to be a part of this training, continue to the volunteer application. Once you have submitted the application, a staff person will contact you to set up an interview time. If you prefer to fill out the application on paper, click here or please call (360)671-5714.
