ShelterLighthouse Mission: Lighthouse mission is a faith-based organization that is dedicated to help and minister to the needy of Bellingham. It operates 3 homeless shelters; 3 daily community meals; a long-term rehabilitation program for men; a transitional housing program for men; a medical clinic; and gives away food, furniture, personal need items and clothing free of charge as available. It also hosts Christ-centered 12-Step meetings. www.thelighthousemission.org Lydia Place: Lydia place is a community-based organization that supports homeless women and their children. It provides safe six-month transitional housing plus twelve- month follow-up programs, individual goal setting and case management, education and employment support/advocacy, and life skills training. www.lydiaplace.org Opportunity Council-Dorothy Place: Dorothy Place is a secure 21-unit facility in Bellingham that provides support services and transitional housing for single women and women with children who are survivors of domestic violence. A Peace Builders program component teaches children alternatives to violence. www.oppco.org/services_shelter.html Womencare Shelter: Womencare shelter is a nonprofit organization that provides safe and confidential emergency shelter support for women and their children who are victims of domestic abuse.
